Floral vignette for a surprise mani swap

Last month ago the lovely Margaret of @m_a_tom on Instagram recreated my lacy work (in)appropriate mani and I was floored that she was so inspired to do so! The feedback on her version was amazing, and it is currently one of her top liked mani's on Instagram at 717 likes! A couple mani's later she created a sexy date night version with red and black polishes and my jaw dropped to the ground. Drooling. Not only did Margaret being so inspired by my early creation mean so much to me, but as I shared with you in my last post, she has truly been a dear by doing thinks like giving me personalized tips when I was feeling a bit frustrated tackling a quatrefoil mani.

To show my appreciation for her kind heart and her talent (the latter is a given), I decided I wanted to do a "surprise" mani swap for her. I know this isn't a 'thing' in the nail blogging world, but since she's already done a replica of my mani I wanted to choose one of my favourites of hers and return the love!

Here's my solo shot, trying to get my Margaret hand pose down! Unfortunately I didn't have the exact same orange, but there is limited piCture pOlish here in Canada, unlike Australia where Margaret is, the lucky lady! :)

Did you know this is my first floral mani?! Yup. I generally pass up the super typical girly designs (butterflies, hearts, flowers, leopard print) and go for more edgy or abstract stuff, but I wanted to challenge myself to do something new and pay a tribute to one of Margaret's most liked mani's (648 likes), a mani which she also had as her profile pic for some time so clearly it's one of her favs! ;)

To do this mani I used a white base (all nails except pinky) and straight nail vinyls as guides to paint the peachy orange stripes. I used a dotting tool to add the dots on the pointer and pinky fingers. To create the floral vignettes (I say vignettes because they kind of frame the center of the nail like a border), I used all acrylic paints and a small detailer paintbrush. Obviously not thin enough, though, because my swishes for the florals turned out far thicker than Margaret's. I've been struggling to find a good brush lately, and all the ones I cut down fray out and you can later find them in my garbage bin.

I hope you appreciate my surprise mani swap, Margaret! Just wanted to share some nail art love!

Polishes used:
- Orly 'Pointe blanche' (white)
- China Glaze 'Peachy keen' (peach creme)
- Acrylic paints (white, green, purple, red - not pictured)
