Cirque Burlesque Fall 2014 collection

Sexy nails alert!! This is Cirque Color's new Burlesque collection, launched for Fall 2014. Spoiler alert: They are all holo, I love them, and I'm dying they are so pretty. These are of course swatches with a twist, and sticking with the Burlesque theme I freehanded some random lace-like designs over a couple nails.

I almost cried when I opened this nail mail package cause they pretty much answered my holo prayers. A collection inspired by the art of burlesque?! Obviously it was time to whip out the sparkly skin tight dress and - no, not put it on - use it as a backdrop for the polish pics! Hells yes! Thank you old slutty holo tube dress from American Apparel, you have actually come in handy.

Generally I might whip out my nail vinyls for swatches with a twist as I've done before, but this time I thought I should probably do something actually hard. So for me that is free handing, yay for sloppy hands! I don't do a lot of freehand mani's, and when I do it tends to end up being the same kinds of generic death-like swirls (see here and here). So this time I forced myself to think up four different lacy patterns that all fit with the theme of Burlesque, but the swirls are still kind of in there.

Swatching conditions applicable to all 4 polishes:
  • Photos taken indoors with direct lighting under two 5200k 28W daylight simulator CFL (compact fluorescent lighting) bulbs (no light box) - No sun shots because my condo and the buildings around it hate me
  • I used my Nikon D5300 DSL-R with a 40mm macro lens, never with flash
  • I did minor colour, exposure and tone adjustements in Adobe Photoshop CS5 in order to best reflect the true colour of the polish
  • I used OPI's peel off base coat under every mani and Sally Hansen Diamond Flash top coat
  • I applied two coats for every polish swatch
  • Freehand detail done in black acrylic paint from my local craft store and my Pure Color 10 nail art brush from Stylish Nail Art Shop on Etsy
And we begin this sexy evening with Cirque's Josephine, a blackened emerald/hunter green holo that makes pine trees weep wishing they were this jaw dropping sexy and dripping in holo.

Next up, Harlow, a very unique antique green-leaning gold holographic polish that's for the edgy sexy queen biatch in all of us. Look at that corset action going on there! Who knew I could even paint that?!

The blue bombshell, Troadero! A somewhat-royal-somewhat-navy rich blue holo that reminds me of the bright evening sky right before the stars come out. How's this for a night on the town with some roses and barbed wire? (That's what those random wavy lines coming out of the roses are supposed to be... just roll with it.) This polish was actually almost completely opaque in one coat!!

And my fav for last, which is surprising because I'm not normally a pink person. But Boudoir, ugh you are so goddamn sexy!!!! This dark magenta polish with cool undertones is definitely ready to get down. This is like the perfect colour for slutty Barbie. It also happens to be almost the colour of my slutty dress that I used for the bottle group photo-op. Don't judge, you know you want this polish.

What a stunning holo collection, not too many and not to few, just four elegantly sexy holo polishes that are perfect for fall. Well to me any perfect polish is perfect all year round, so regardless of the season, it's time to get down and dirty with some holo!!
