Lorde gone mild: Clear to black-tipped gradient with pink holo jelly

When I was playing with my new neon holo jellies from Beyond the Nail (see swatches and review here), it dawned on me that I should probably try and create a more modest mani using these unique and extremely versatile polishes, as opposed to the colour crazyness that I've demonstrated can be done with these polishes here and here. I went for a more uniform look and thought I'd try out just their pink polish, Supernova, over a black to clear gradient after finding out how awesome these polishes looked over black. If Lorde were to take it down a notch and try on some pink lipstick for a change, perhaps her nails would look like this as opposed to the 'frostbitten' look she's popularized (which, like a lot of 'haute couture'/runway styles, is really impractical for us people who live here on Earth).

VIDEO TUTORIAL AT THE END OF THE POST!

How pretty is this pink over black?? Pink isn't really one of my fav colours, but I'm definitely a fan of this combo: Half pink, half black, and full holo?! I'm in.

1 MIN OR LESS VIDEO TUTORIAL:

Steps:
  1. On a makeup sponge, apply a generous amount of clear polish followed by black polish.
  2. Immediately sponge onto the tip of the nail, with the black polish landing on the tip and the clear polish landing in the middle of the nail.
  3. Repeat step 1 to 2 two or three times, depending on desired opacity and degree of blend.
  4. Apply one coat of neon pink jelly polish over entire nail. Make sure to apply an even coat to avoid streaking, and try and do just one thin coat - if you were to do two coats the jelly would render the black more pink.
  5. Final top coat and you're done! How easy was that?!
 Polishes used:
- Beyond the Nail 'Supernova' (neon pink holo jelly)
- Cult Nails 'Nevermore' (my fav black creme - enter this giveaway for a chance to win it and many more awesome polishes!)
- Revlon 'Clear' (any clear polish will do, just don't use actual top coat which is generally quite thick)

  1. I absolutely love this look! I loved Lorde's (extreme) nails/hands, too, but like you said they weren't very practical for daily life, haha!
