Polished by KPT - Cosmic Xodus I Collection |
And how's about some bottle porn:
Brush porn of course...
Swatch conditions:
- All shots were photographed indoors under 2x 5200k compact fluorescent bulbs, never with camera flash.
- I used UNT's new peel off base coat for easy removal after each swatch, and kept my cuticles nice and supple with my favourite cuticle and nail oil.
- I applied three coats of polish for each swatch nail, no coloured base coat.
- I used Cult Nails 'Nevermore' black creme as the base coat on my galaxy accent nails, along with iridescent hex glitters scattered across the 'galaxy' from Née Jolie.
- One coat of HK Girl glossy top coat by Glisten & Glow on all nails.
Okay, get to the swatch porn already...!!
First up, Polished by KPT's Wave Function, a hot fuchsia pink scattered holo glitter and BAM it's in yo face. I'm not much of a pink lover but this one is so intense and obnoxious and sparkly so how can I not love it?! Three thin even coats and it's this rich and pigmented! Barbie is rolling in her grave. Wait is Barbie dead? Idk, well she should be by now.
Wreath for the Stars is a deep dark emerald green scattered holo, and it's actually a duo-chrome too!! Although this duo-chrome has a less powerful shift than my usual duo/multi-chrome favs, it was a sweet surprise to see it shift a teeny bit to a dark purple/indigo at a hard angle (see last pic).
If this is what mars looks like, I would actually risk combusting in space or whatever happens for this magical 8th wonder of the world. Mars Escapade is one of three thermals in this collection. If you're not familiar with thermals, it means that that they change colours depending on the temperature. Even though they're super cool and fun to watch change colours (light reddish to dark purple?! WAT?!) , I realized I'm not a big fan of working with them because I spend a lot of time photographing my nails and the polish shifts back to its regular coloured state too soon while I'm trying to snap photos. Damn you chemistry!!
Here's the second thermal of the batch, A Dream Within A Dream. It's a hot pink rich jelly with iridescent purple shimmer throughout. Really gorgeous just in its natural state! It shifts from hot pink to a very light sheer purple-pink. So purdy!
The last of the thermals is Lambda Max 510, which I FAILED completely at capturing in its true colour-changing abilities. In fact you should prob just ignore my pics here and jump straight to KPT's page where you'll find pics of other nail bloggers actually capturing the colour shift. OOPS on me. Long story short I just couldn't snap a pic in time and since the colour change is less intense than the two above, I fail. Sorry thermals, but I guess we just weren't meant to be.
How bout some silver holo glitter to lighten up that epic fail?! Here's Light-Years, a complex multi-shaped silver holo glitter that includes a mix of tiny hexes and tiny bar glitters. I sponged this one on using my glitter payoff technique to maximize its awesomeness.
Vacay to Venus is a pretty little baby pink intense holo, same in composition as it's copper/orange counterpart, Bleeding Stars (above). Baby pink holo is one of Menchie's fav colours, so she's definitely a fan.
Underneath the Milky Way, much like Wreath for the Stars, is a jelly duo-chrome with scattered holo glitters that has an ever so slight colour shift. Its dominant colour is a vivd indigo and it shift to a burnt gold at a hard angle.
And of course I saved my fav for last... Nalani! What a gorgeous intense royal blue jelly jam-packed with holo glitters. It's the same in formula as it's pink sister Wave Function, but I'm digging this blue even more.
The whole 10-piece Polished by KPT Cosmic Xodus I collection in its macro collage glory:
To create the five simple galaxy accent nails I paired with this collection, I randomly sponged on two polishes per nail with a ripped edge of a makeup sponge and then added a couple iridescent hex glitters from Née Jolie.
You can get your outer space wonders today directly from Polished by KPT or from Harlow & Co., a stockist based in Canada (awesome, eh?) that ships to Canada and the US at great rates (pssst... they also offer international shipping!)

These are all awesome. Thanks for the great brush and bottle porn, too. I look forward to your posts for those alone! Well, and the beautiful art as well. How do you make everything look so easy?! Love the galaxy art! :)
