Badass holo and rhinestone bondage nails

...NSFW perhaps? Fack fifty shades of grey, how bout however many shades of holo!

This weeks nails is the product of both the 'holo' theme and 'embellishment' prompt for a weekly nail art challenge I co-host on Instagram along with lovely ladies Kristin of Lacquerstyle and Tracey of @missbellatracey. I had recently seen a similar technique of rounding out the lines where they intersect done by @sharingvu on Instagram and I knew I had to try it out!

The star polish is my first EVER Dance Legend, 'Different View', which I got from Hypnotic Polish! Gahhhh it's so pretty it's owning my nails like ohhh shiiiieeettt.

El Corazon active-bio gel polishes: Review and sparkle

A new polish brand to me, El Corazon has released a massive line of "active bio gel" polishes, which are dubbed a "nail treatment that looks, applies and removes like a regular nail polish, but at the same time helps to strengthen your nails and gradually improve their condition. It is easy to apply, dries very quickly and lasts on your nails much longer than regular polishes." The two I have here today have a jelly formula with holographic flakies, unlike any polish I've seen before! There is so much depth to these polishes and I'm in love with their multi-dimensional result, especially the purple. These El Corazon polishes and many more colour options are available from Hypnotic Polish, an international indie polish stockist.

Colour-shifty action with colour blocks and studs

Total random alert! And it's not even a gradient! (wtf?) I was playing around with the new right angle nail vinyls from Nailvinyls.com and got to thinkin': What design can I make out with these that I probably could have used straight vinyls to create so I just wasted those right angles for no reason? Sigh. Whatever, it is definitely easier to get straight right angles with right angle vinyls (obv, duh), and the colour shiftiness of this mani makes up for it. Colour shifting base polish is ILNP Masquerade (H) from their new fall collection which I've swatched with a twist here. The really cool also shifty rhinestone-stud thingies are from Born Pretty Store, love 'em!

Looping effect over iridescent teal

Found this one in my unpublished folder, looks like I did it in May. In any case, I'd bought KB Shimmer 'Teal Another Tale' because, well, it's teal, and it's sparkly, and even shifty. So pretty that I didn't want to interfere with its magical colour properties so all I did was add a simple white looping effect freehand design, some dots, and swarovski flatback studs for extra bling (picked them up at my local craft store).

Purple magic simple looping effect

So the 'looping effect' mani is one of the very first designs I did when I first started doing something other than just one colour plus a stripe of another colour down the middle of nails. The earliest looping effect mani I have on record courtesy of photo date stamps is sometime in 2010. This was all way way before I was doing anything fancy, and before I'd discovered that an online world of nail art existed. The first time I spoke of the looping effect on this blog was right around when I launched this blog, so February of 2014.

The base polish and the two striper polishes I used to create this look are all products included in my 10k followers on Instagram celebatory giveaway, which you can enter to win if you have an Instagram account, see giveaway rules etc. here.

Lady Speed Stick Nutra-Skin and nails to match

Hi everyone! I am super excited to share with you today a review of a product that is actually NOT NAIL POLISH. Gah?! I know. Obviously included in the post are nails to match, so don't worry; your nail polish/art addiction will be satisfied by the end of this post.

The wonderful ladies at the Republic sent me a basket of goodies including the main attraction: Lady Speed Stick Nutra-skin deodorant. Taking care of our winter-parched parts including hands, feet and armpits makes up what has been termed the 'thirsty three'.
