In this case the super friendly Jamie from Tinseltown Nails asked me to do a "#bestietwinnails" as it's called on Instagram and I was like hell yeah! She sought out this sassy BCBG 'Reese' strapless colour-blocked dress and we both went to town.

We both did our mani's seperately and didn't necessarily communicate how we'd execute the mani, so it's interesting to see how we both chose a different interpretation of the same dress. Jamie went for the colour-block pattern on each nail and had a little more creative fun with her pinky, whereas I saw the dress' pattern stretching across all four nails. I think these colours are great for summer, might I add, I've seen so many cobalt blues around lately, and corals and sand tones are a given for this season.
Here's my mani close-up:
I just want to express how fun it has been getting to know the girls in the nail art community, and Jamie is one of them! She lives in the Phillipines so whenever we chat we're exactly 12 hours off, so if it's 9:00PM my time it's 9:00AM hers. I don't know why I've always found that so fascinating, the idea that while one part of the world is going to bed, another is waking up!
Jamie has been super genuine and nice, and she even picked up a well sought-after nail art brush for me that there's no way I could have gotten in Canada! I will be repaying her the favour when I can, that's for sure! One thing I've learned about the nail art community (in the 4 months or so that I've been a part of it) is that people are generally super friendly, supportive, and generous. There's so many nail mail exchanges, giveaways, and nail art contests, and while some of the hosts of these may have ulterior motives (e.g., gaining followers), there are clearly some ladies out there who do it because they truly want to spread some love for nail art and nail polish around. I will be thinking about doing a giveaway soon, because I can definitely appreciate the kind of smile that would put on the winner's face!
Some different angles below. Yes, these were taken with my new macro lens and DSL-R but clearly I need to figure out how to make use of the infinite number of features:
Polishes used:
- Essie 'Sand tropez' (light beige creme)
- Essie 'Tart deco' (warm coral creme)
- Essie 'Bouncer, it's me!' (neon blue)
- Cult Nails 'Nevermore' (black)
- Orly 'Pointe blanche' (white)
Both mani's came out great. I like the different interpretation for the dress, but they both match it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteWell thanks, Andrea! I do love the colour scheme!
