Halloween nails throwback: Sea-foam sponging clouds and creepy silhouettes

Throwback! To May of this year (2014) when I did these Halloween nails with summer just around the corner and I was all like I don't even know what Halloween means at this time of year. I did them for an issue of Nail It Magazine, and turns out they were included, woohoo! Evidently these nails are wayyyy different from nails now, so much so that they don't even look like my nails. Visit my Nail Care page to see what I've done in the past half-year or so that has completely changed my nail length and durability!

Glowing Halloween cat nails

~ Le français suit ~

Apparently today is National Cat Day, and Halloween is in a couple days, so here's some Halloween cat nails 'cause I totally just whipped these up today. In any case I'd also like to introduce you to a French nail art company, Née Jolie. They were kind enough to send me some items for review and obviously I picked some super sweet cat decals! Née Jolie has an extensive selection of nail art supplies and they ship internationally. You can use my code SIMX10 for 10% off your order! As I live in Canada, I have many francophone ladies following my nail arts and so that explains why I've teamed up with a French nail company as well as why I'm translating this post in French (not good French, but still French).

Fall-toned holo reciprocal X round gradient

... title is a mouthfull, once again. Meghan of Will Paint Nails for Food featured some fall nail arts on her blog today, and I'm happy to say she thought mine was worth including! Meghan is known for her detailed nail arts (and she actually paints her nails unlike me who just tends to blend colours all over the place), so be sure to go check her out! My submission was maybe a bit of a stretch from fall-inspired, but I got the colour scheme right cause I used three new holos from ILNP's fall collection, so, yeah.

Holo and creme intricate reciprocal gradient with striping tape

Gradient + holo + striping tape = meeeee! I had some fun with this one, that's for sure. Thanks to Live Love Polish, a new online polish retailer, I got to try out one of the infamous Color Club holographic hues (Kismet) along with a teal China Glaze creme I've been lusting over (Shower Together - what a name btw).

Fall-toned asymmetrical colour-blocking with matte textured glitters

Colour-block cause why not! A simple asymmetrical colour-block featuring three new polishes from Colour Club's Made in New York and Seven Deadly Sins Fall 2014 collections. These three colours just go so well together and are fresh and fit for this fall weather we're having over here in Canada. Although with our luck, it will be snowing next week and I'll be reaching for deep blues and iridescent white flakies. Enjoy fall manis while they last!

Copper tweed nails with black chevron accents

'Cause why not! Actually because Nail It! magazine put out a call for tweed nail art recently, so I gave it a go and was inspired by Karen of @sharingvu on Instagram's take on it with random black accents over the tweed. Here goes!

Happy holo-ween: A trio of holo glitters from Painted Polish

The only way to do halloween is to do holo-ween, obviously. Say hello to three new holo glitters brought to you by Painted Polish! This trio is expected to be launched for pre-order by later this week just in time for Halloween, so please check back on Painted Polish's website or on her social media feeds for updates.

To me, holo glitter is appropriate for any time of year, the only function of the seasons is that it gives us an excuse to buy all the holo glitters cause we MUST have that 2014 Holo-ween collection before it gets taken off the shelves forever, ya know.

Triangle reciprocal gradient and a new nail polish shop

A reciprocal gradient?! How boring! Nah, just kidding, it's not that boring, but I've used just two nail polishes in this mani as opposed to the 12 polishes used in my last quadruple scaled gradient. Sometimes we should just appreciate the beauty of a couple nail polishes instead of going all out in polish porn as I am occasionally guilty of (sorry, not sorry?).

Today I've got a new take on the reciprocal gradient look but instead of using striping tape I've used triangle directional arrow nail shields from Love, Angeline to serve as a nail vinyl/stencil. Featured are two new polishes I've added to my collection thanks to the ladies over at Live Love Polish, which is a new online-based nail polish store which ships internationally from the U.S. (and quickly, too!). They carry some of the core basics every nail polish addict needs, such as holographic Color Club's or China Glaze creme galore, as well as some up-and-coming nail polish brands like UNT or Tenoverten.

Quadruple scaled gradient: Mexican rug inspired madness

Oh ma gawd what in the hell is this?!?! I don't even know. Pretty sure it might be a quadruple scaled gradient...but yeah. I have no more words. My head hurts just thinking about how I did this (and then re-thinking how I really should have done it instead), so you best just stop reading words and look at pics instead.

Holo glitter heaven with FUN's 1st Anniversary Collection

Ohhhh yeahhh time to get dirt nasty. And by dirt I mean glitter and by nasty I mean holo-ey. F.U.N. Lacquer decided to give us all seizures of the holo sensing brain neurons for their first anniversary as an indie polish, and the creator Yuin was nice enough to let me play with her magical creations! Everyone knows I love holo, and glitter, and when you combine the two you essentially get knocked out of reality and exhibit symptoms of what the APA might consider adding to the DSM-VI: Holo Glitter Dissociation Disorder (HGDD cause psychologists love acronyms). You heard it here first!

FUN Lacquer will be restocking this limited edition and exclusive collection TOMORROW, Thursday, October 9th at 11:30AM EST / 11:30PM SGT. Get 'em quick cause I am quite positive that all those who bear witness to the entrancing effects of these polishes will flood the servers and raid the inventory within minutes of launch.

Halloween spiders: Dry brush and glitter galore

It's Halloween soon time, not that I care at all cause I haven't dressed up for 739759 years, but in any case I know some of you still care so here's some nail arts to match. Featuring spider-web stuck on love nail shields and spider decals from Love, Angeline plus a mish-mash of some of my new polishes, Painted Polish's '#PSL' (i.e., pumpkin spice latte) and 'Black widow' holo glitters, along with 'Off duty' from Color Club which is from their new Made in New York Fall 2014 collection*.

Mani swap: Teal colourblock holos and a rainbow scaled gradient

Ohhh boy, we have a revolutionary post on our hands today that is going to go down in mani swap history! The talented French nail blogger Faustine of La NPA Mouton and I have been plotting this franco-anglo-blogger assimilation scheme for probably two months now and I'm so happy that things finally came to fruition. As I've raved before, French nail bloggers are stupid awesome and their impeccable attention to detail is just INCROYABLE.

I was struck by Faustine's teal colour-block combo mani, but evidently I don't have her fantastic collection of teal holos so I had to get a bit creative and actually make a teal creme holo with a holo top coat from GG Couture. Faustine was inspired to re-create my neon rainbow skittle single chevron scaled gradient, one of the first few that I ever did using the technique! She definitely nailed it!

Abstract fall leaves in ultrachrome and holo

Fall is in the air and on my nails!!! Went for an abstract simple leaf-like look using two awesome fall savvy polishes from ILNP (I Love Nail Polish). Yes I realize they kind of also look like the tips of a fire and not leaves... but whatever, that's why the key word 'abstract' is so important.
