Unicorn veins on your nails

I HAVE FOUND THE CAPILLARIES OF THE MAJESTIC UNICORN and have harvested them for use in my nail arts. Just like unicorn skins, unicorn veins are made up of iridescent colour-shifting magical properties, but more vascular. Have no fear unicorn PETA groups, these veins were harvested from unicorn organ donors who were all killed in a tragic accident. The unicorns have passed but they have lent their bodies to science!

K this is getting weird.

Snowflake nail art then a dog peed on it

Snow on my nails because winter in Ottawa, Canada is coming and I must brace myself! Also this snow appears to have dog pee as a result of the pink-to-yellow colour shifting properties of the unicorn skins glitters.

White shattered glass nails with multi-chrome shifts

White unicorn skins have landed! After doing some black and holographic shattered glass nails, I felt like trying out a more "angelic" look over white! But obviously, because I can never keep anything simple, I added a twist of multi-chrome! FUN Lacquer's Blessing is one of the most powerful colour-shifting multi-chromes out there, going from a beautiful green to teal to blue to purple BAM I LOVE IT!! Almost as much as holo... not quite... but almost.

You've asked yourself this question too many times before... WHY CAN'T I FIND THE PERFECT WHITE NAIL POLISH??? Cause no one should be deprived of that perfect fresh white canvas ready for nail art and epic gradienting.

Now, I didn't test every single white nail polish in the world, cause, well, I'd be dead by the time I finished. I know there's a few other 'popular' or highly coveted white nail polishes out there that I just didn't have time to source out and include (that and I'm lazy).

Last Friday for the weekly nail art challenge I co-host on Instagram I did up some bright & black neon fishtail nails as a second attempt because THIS (down below) was my first attempt, and I was like, k no, ew. Neon gradient pattern nails for summah

Oh hey there people who actually read my blog! I've been sick all week so that's my excuse for no posts (I dunno what my excuse is for every other week before this though... crap). But here, have some neon! This week's weekly nail art challenge (WNAC) that I co-host on Instagram along with lovely ladies Kristin of Lacquerstyle and Tracey of MissBellaTracey is neon + tribal. So I went with my strange interpretation of the theme as always.

My most important discovery during this neon adventure was how awesome Models Own 'polish for tans' polishes are!! They are are super neon and they were completely opaque after one coat of SPONGING!!! Which is like amazing, cause if you recall in my Peel Off Face Off video where I used Color Club pastel neons, it took me 4-5 coats of sponging to get the gradient opaque. I highly recommend these Models Own neons, they are amazeeeeballllls.

Rose gold-tipped and stripes inspired by a classic watch

Pretty pink leopard nailz OMG totes my style

Pretty pink leopard nails oh em geeee I LURRRVEE THEM. Actually no I despise pretty pink girly leopard print with bows n' shit cause GAHH I WANNA SCRATCH THEM OFF PPL'S NAILS WITH A KNIFE WHEN I SEE THEM (cause obv wouldn't wanna break my own nails). Nah, I don't hate them on other people that bad, but they're def not my style. Pink to white gradient with contrast ruffian border

This week's weekly nail art challenge (co-hosted by Kristin of Lacquerstyle and Tracey of @missbellatracey on Instagram) is 'ruffian' nails (i.e., a border cuticle line) and the theme is contrast. This is probably one of the simplest gradients I have ever done (there is only ONE GRADIENT PER NAIL?!), I guess I had a fever or something. In any case they are sure to catch someone's eye with that extra ruffian touch, and think about all the colour possibilities you could use instead of pink!

Optical illusion black and white opposite nails

This week's weekly nail art challenge (co-hosted by Kristin of Lacquerstyle and Tracey of @missbellatracey on Instagram) is matte black and white - and I went simple for once! I was inspired by Amy Tran's square purple and gold opposite-interlocking design, and then as it turns out a couple days later she published a now very similar one to mine which I just realized now lol, except she used full swirls instead of mini swirls. I guess this is what happens when you opt for a simple design, there's really nothing proprietary about it since someone is bound to think up the same thing!

It's that time again where I lament over my old nail arts with its sad sad state of cuticle clean up, awkward hand posing, terrible photography, and overall bad everything else. Winter snow glitters over blue to white gradient

Winter snow glitter nails I did an entire 2 months ago cause September snow, yeah! I totally just whipped these up for my weekly nail art challenge 'snow' themed post, right! Winter is here to stay! For most of the year! Well for me anyways, being in Canada and all, summer is like the shortest season ever to actually see the sidewalks. Whatever, new seasons mean new nail polish collections to me, so there's that. Mani swap: Teal colourblock holos and a rainbow scaled gradient

Ohhh boy, we have a revolutionary post on our hands today that is going to go down in mani swap history! The talented French nail blogger Faustine of La NPA Mouton and I have been plotting this franco-anglo-blogger assimilation scheme for probably two months now and I'm so happy that things finally came to fruition. As I've raved before, French nail bloggers are stupid awesome and their impeccable attention to detail is just INCROYABLE.

I was struck by Faustine's teal colour-block combo mani, but evidently I don't have her fantastic collection of teal holos so I had to get a bit creative and actually make a teal creme holo with a holo top coat from GG Couture. Faustine was inspired to re-create my neon rainbow skittle single chevron scaled gradient, one of the first few that I ever did using the technique! She definitely nailed it!

A black tie affair: Classic B&W striping tape mani

Don't yell at me when I call this mani simple, cause I know people on Instagram already have. Let me explain: When I use the term 'simple' I don't mean simple in the execution context but rather in the end result appearance. It is simple because it is a 'cross hatch' pattern with no deviations from that pattern thoroughout, and because it is consistent across all nails, therefore making the pattern simple. The execution of this pattern, however, is somewhat (ha, I say somewhat) time consuming given that each and every white stripe you see is the product of hand placed pieces of striping tape. A striping tape massacre indeed!

This design is a reincarnation of a similar triple-lined cross hatch pattern I did in July, but this time without added the extra blocks of colour around the diamond/square intersections.

Pink agate rocks using seafoam sponging technique

About a month ago I posted a turquoise agate rock like mani using the same seafoam sponging technique you see here, but truth be told I did these pink ones first, teehee. They've been in my blog header for over a month now, c'mon people where's your attention at?! In any case it is clear that I was directly inspired by the Base Coat Top Coat's pink agate rock nails, but clearly her detail is beyond my freehanding abilities. See my first freehanded failed attempt below!
