I Love Nail Polish 2015 Spring Collection

Spring supposedly happened a while back but it's still under 0 degrees C where I am (Ottawa, Canada), so therefore I'M NOT LATE WITH THIS COLLECTION AT ALL. I bring you the new-ish I Love Nail Polish (ILNP) Spring 2015 collection, ten stunning shades in all!

Well actually there's 12 shades in this collection but the missing two from here are two new additions to ILNP's staple multi-chrome mega-epic flakies! I'm saving them for some flakie spam later on (for past ILNP flakie spam, see this blog post).

Teal holo dry brush with fancy chevron tip

It's monochromatic nails time for this weeks nails in the weekly nail art challenge (WNAC) I co-host on Instagram along with lovely ladies Kristin of Lacquerstyle and Tracey of MissBellaTracey. I went with teal holo cause I love teal holo and cause I have so many of them.... COLLECT ALL THE TEAL HOLOS.

I used a basic dry-brush technique then slapped on some fancy chevron tips using vinyls I got from Up Your Nail. You may have also noticed that I haven't been posting as much nail art lately... read on to hear me blab about why!

Blobbicure gone holo with two of the new ILNP springies

It's almost spring!!! Except just for everyone else in the world but me in sad, cold, miserable Canada... but new nail polish collections titles 'spring collection' keep reminding me I live in the worst climate ever. DAMN YOU CANADIAN WINTER THAT LASTS HALF THE YEAR, DAMN YOU.

Okay back to nails - this mani is my first ever 'blobbicure' as they're termed, as it was this week's prompt for a weekly nail art challenge I co-host on Instagram along with lovely ladies Kristin of Lacquerstyle and Tracey of @missbellatracey. I actually re-did this one a couple times cause I wasn't putting the polish on thick enough, but with mistakes comes improvement, amirite?!

I used two new holo babies from I Love Nail Polish's new spring 2015 collection and I'm in LOVE!

Dark galaxy nails using ultra-chrome flakies

It's galaxy time yaaaaasss! After that epic climax of ILNP ultra-chrome flakies a few weeks ago, you didn't think I was going to leave you hanging, did ya??

This week's weekly nail art challenge (co-hosted by Kristin of Lacquerstyle and Tracey of @missbellatracey on Instagram) is all about galaxies, and the theme is matte. Normally I throw rave parties over matte flakies, but I think I have succumbed to the glossy version on this one!! I know I know, "matte all the flakies" lovers everywhere are crying.

Geometric ultra-chrome flakie and right angle madness

Further to my swatches of new ILNP ultra-chrome flakies and subsequent flakie porno, I went to town and you could say I had more than a few flakie-gasms. Here's some eye-blinding in-your-face-shiny and colourful nail art that is perfect for new year's eve celebrations, or if you're like me then obnoxious nails any time of the year! I used right angle nail vinyls along with 6 of ILNP's new ultra-chrome flakie polishes to create this eyeball stimulating look, which actually kind of speaks sparkling garbage hooker, but I love it so, that's a good thing.

Fall-toned holo reciprocal X round gradient

... title is a mouthfull, once again. Meghan of Will Paint Nails for Food featured some fall nail arts on her blog today, and I'm happy to say she thought mine was worth including! Meghan is known for her detailed nail arts (and she actually paints her nails unlike me who just tends to blend colours all over the place), so be sure to go check her out! My submission was maybe a bit of a stretch from fall-inspired, but I got the colour scheme right cause I used three new holos from ILNP's fall collection, so, yeah.

Mani swap: Teal colourblock holos and a rainbow scaled gradient

Ohhh boy, we have a revolutionary post on our hands today that is going to go down in mani swap history! The talented French nail blogger Faustine of La NPA Mouton and I have been plotting this franco-anglo-blogger assimilation scheme for probably two months now and I'm so happy that things finally came to fruition. As I've raved before, French nail bloggers are stupid awesome and their impeccable attention to detail is just INCROYABLE.

I was struck by Faustine's teal colour-block combo mani, but evidently I don't have her fantastic collection of teal holos so I had to get a bit creative and actually make a teal creme holo with a holo top coat from GG Couture. Faustine was inspired to re-create my neon rainbow skittle single chevron scaled gradient, one of the first few that I ever did using the technique! She definitely nailed it!

Abstract fall leaves in ultrachrome and holo

Fall is in the air and on my nails!!! Went for an abstract simple leaf-like look using two awesome fall savvy polishes from ILNP (I Love Nail Polish). Yes I realize they kind of also look like the tips of a fire and not leaves... but whatever, that's why the key word 'abstract' is so important.

Colour-shifty action with colour blocks and studs

Total random alert! And it's not even a gradient! (wtf?) I was playing around with the new right angle nail vinyls from Nailvinyls.com and got to thinkin': What design can I make out with these that I probably could have used straight vinyls to create so I just wasted those right angles for no reason? Sigh. Whatever, it is definitely easier to get straight right angles with right angle vinyls (obv, duh), and the colour shiftiness of this mani makes up for it. Colour shifting base polish is ILNP Masquerade (H) from their new fall collection which I've swatched with a twist here. The really cool also shifty rhinestone-stud thingies are from Born Pretty Store, love 'em!

Teal for Pshiiit: Turquoise holo gradient with swirls and glitters

Photoshop fun today in honour of Camille from Pshiiit who recently reached 200k followers on Instagram! Camille is hosting a contest with the theme 'Teal for Pshiiit' and the rules are to post a pic inspired by the colour teal. It doesn't have to be nails, but to be creative. Evidently I still stuck with the nails theme, but I tried my best to get creative with my prop setup (an ode to French nail blogger flawlessness, really) and by exercising my ancient Photoshop editing skills leaving only teal colouring behind and super imposing a pic I took of custom made turquoise glitters @missbellatracey gave to me behind Pshiiit's official blog logo. How'd I do???

ILNP duochrome holo drybrush over black

Actually easy nail arts today! I've had a few people comment on my Instagram page that they'd like to see some ideas for easy nail art. Here's a straight up drybrushing-with-the-polish-brush technique that's super easy to do. Obviously I had to make it a bit more out-there to suit my overly dramatic style so I've used holo duochromes (that's right, holo AND duochrome) polishes from ILNP* over a black creme base.

Pic heavy cause it's so hard to capture the shifting shades of the two duochrome polishes I used and the holo! *crying kitty emoji*

Pink and grey holo fancy chevron scaled gradient

Further to my futuristic teal mermaid-esque scaled gradient, today I'm having some more I Love Nail Polish (ILNP)* holo fun! This time with 'fancy chevrons' - who knew errthin' be gettin' fancy these days? I'm pretty sure this is one the sexiest mani's I've ever done. Yep, I just called nail art sexy.

Triple raz holo teal scaled gradient: Mermaids from the future

Another scaled gradient, you ask?! Yep. And I'm not apologizing. Someone on my Instagram actually commented that I do too many of them. You know what I thought?? I don't give a. I just love the clean, crisp yet deep look they give off. There's something about lines without actually having blatant lines in artwork that has always been appealing to me, like Lawrence Harris' work. I'm Canadian, so yeah. Deal with it.

The lovely folks at I Love Nail Polish (ILNP) sent me some holo babies* to play with and I was oh so delighted. Christa aka beauty blogger Chrissy AI reached out to me and told me I didn't even have to trade my liver. I was relieved. Here's my first look so far with my new (and very first!) ILNP's. Turned out like a mermaid from the future if you ask me, featuring my fav colour, teal.
