Fun with acrylics: Inspired by chandelier art

A while ago I bought a print/canvas with chandelier art that complimented a chandelier-style floor lamp I picked up from Urban Barn. I traced the chandelier art piece back to Working Girls Design Inc., who designed it, but you can buy it or other ones like it almost anywhere, such as on Overstock.com.

A couple weeks ago I picked up some acrylic paint to try out (for nail art, of course) and I found myself wanting to re-create the chandelier art piece and its 'teardrop' effect. In other words, where the words of what seems like a corny love letter were cried on causing some of the ink to blur (wah wah, someone call a wambulance).

It's not a perfect replica, and I'm still not happy with my paint brush size (I had trimmed one down but it was still frayed, arg).

Let's look at my nailspiration for a sec:

Working Girls Design Inc. Chandelier canvas
Chrome chandelier-style floor lamp from Urban Barn... and my kitty.
The artwork again... and my kitty just 'cause.

And here's some more pics of my actual nails. The colouring of the photos went a bit wacky because I was using the canvas as a backdrop as opposed to my usual bland grey draw blinds.

Can you see the 'teardrops'? Boo f**king hoo.

Thumb reads: Lame lame oh so lame.
I would be so mad at someone if they actually cried on my pointer finger nail.

Polishes used:
- Orly 'Pointe blanche' (white base)
- OPI 'Don't bossa nova me around' (soft nude rose creme)
- Acrylic paints in purple, black, and white (and variations in between)
